Woodz Cycling helps you choose bike locks and bike lights with clear, independent buying advice. This page explains how we research products, how we score them, and how the site is funded.
How we research
We do not accept free products or paid placements. Every review starts from publicly verifiable information:
- Manufacturer and listing specifications, which we cross-check for consistency.
- Patterns across verified customer reviews, including Amazon’s own summary of what buyers praise and criticize. Large review counts tell us more than a handful of five-star ratings.
- Established expert knowledge about the category, such as standards, materials and how features work in practice.
- Comparison with alternatives in the same price class, because a product is only good relative to what else you could buy.
We do not claim to have physically tested a product unless an article says so explicitly.
How we score
Our score out of 5 reflects how well a product does its main job for the people it is designed for, weighted against build quality, reported reliability, ease of use and value compared with alternatives. Scores are deliberately spread out. A 4.5 is rare and means we would recommend the product with very few caveats.
Keeping reviews current
Products change, listings get updated and prices move every day. That is why we never print prices and always link to the current listing. We revisit popular reviews regularly and update or remove them when a product changes or disappears.
How the site is funded
Woodz Cycling is reader-supported. As an Amazon Associate we earn from qualifying purchases. When you buy through a link on this site, we may earn a small commission at no extra cost to you. Commissions never influence our verdicts, and we link to alternatives from other brands whenever they are a better fit.
